The Calgary Pride Parade is coming right up on Sunday, September 2nd. With a new start time of 11 am, it looks to be the best one yet. As with many public events in Calgary, it comes with its fair share of road closures, but as the second biggest parade after the Stampede, that’s only to be expected.
A far cry from the early days when some participant wore masks out of fear of reprisals, it’s now sponsored by ATB and has mainstream support across the board.
There’s a busy schedule in advance of the parade, culminating in the Pride In The Park Festival on Princes Island, and there’s even a Calgary Pride Tailgate Party with special pricing on a Stamps game.
This free event is going to be a great way to spend a Sunday on the September long weekend. And if you’re camping that final weekend of the summer, there’s bound to be an event leading up to it you can attend!
