Why not hop into your nice warm car and head out to Calgary’s neighbour to the South, Okotoks, for their Hot Chocolate Festival Feb 14-24? With a collectible Passport to get stamped, there’s nearly a dozen venues participating putting their best chocolate foot forward.
If you’re more of a oenophile than a chocolateholic, perhaps Winefest Calgary is more your tipple. Running the weekend of Feb 22-23 at the BMO Centre, your $80+ ticket gets you samples of all the wines being presented.
And if you just want to get your boogie down and your heart rate up, there’s also plenty of music festivals to try out this month. After years of boring Februaries, there’s now true choices for those that like live music.
Block Heater, Feb 21-23, is celebrating its 4th year, only getting bigger and better every year. Presented by the Calgary Folk Music Festival, you just know they’ve curated a fine lineup. And if the 12 bars you’re looking for come on the neck of guitar, you can’t go wrong the the Calgary Midwinter Bluesfest, Feb 24-Mar 2.
So the cold is no excuse – get out and get warm!
