Trending Dining for Summer

Every year brings more food trends to us as the culinary world reaches out to new and interesting cuisines. What can we expect for the coming year?

Burmese. Myanmar has been in the news for a heated up political landscape, but it’s also allowed more tourists in, leading to a broadened appreciation of the cuisine. Right now you can sample it at Ariya Burmese Foods, located in the Crossroads Market.

Meat Free. A&W are making waves with their “Beyond Meat” burger (which we can attest is pretty good), but this is a trend that has been growing for a while (see what I did there?) and vegan options are poised to land on the menus of your favourite restaurants.

Craft Spirits. Micro distillers are the new micro breweries. With locations like Last Best, RAW, and Burwood in Calgary offering a wide variety of small batch fine spirits and many more throughout Alberta, there is no shortage of choice for a unique tipple.

There will be more trends coming to the fore as we approach the twenties, the good news is that Calgary, Canmore and Banff are worldly enough to embrace them. You won’t have to travel to experience these new trends, and we here at Lifestyle YYC will stay on top of them too!
