Korq Winehouse & Kitchen
I have a picture of myself at no more than eight years old standing on a step-stool over my parents’ stove cooking “goulash.” However, it wasn’t until mid high-school that I decided that my passion for cooking would become my career.
I love the chaos and the fast pace of a busy kitchen and I love the challenges of running a restaurant. This is hard work, so you have to love hard work if you want this as a career.
I’m a born & raised Calgarian with experience that blends influences from the gastro-pub movement in Britain to the imaginative restaurant scene in Victoria and back to Calgary via a stint at Canmore’s Luna Blue. For the past 7 years I was the Sous Chef at Brava Bistro and I believe in promoting the importance of “local foods”. In 2012 I represented Canada at the Slow Food, Terra Madre Conference in Italy.
Passion and the culture of cooking is just the beginning for me. Being in the kitchen is truly what makes me happy… I want to introduce Korq customers to my style of cuisine here in Calgary. I try to create a menu with features & sharing plates that have been forged through international experience, but which honor the local and seasonal ingredients of Western Canada.
